It relates to the third eye chakra and pituitary gland and is associated with spiritual awakening, intuitiveness and deep feelings.

In the previous post we saw, how Violet relates to the Crown chakra that happens to be the first chakra. Now we can infer that the second color INDIGO relates to the second Chakra, ie the Third Eye Chakra.

What is more intriguing is that the third eye finds mention in every ancient civilization known. Be it the “Eye of Horus” of the Egyptians or the Third Eye of Lord Shiva in Hinduism or in Taoism of the Chinese which teaches that the third eye, also called the mind’s eye serves as a portal of cosmic consciousness and the most prominent of all, the “All-seeing eye” of freemasonry. One can find the equivalent of the third eye everywhere. What makes it even more awesome is how close it gets to modern science. Now it gets all the more interesting as it looks exactly like how the Thalamus in our brain looks like. See this:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It’s this thalamus that houses the Pineal  and Pituitary Gland.

This third eye (also known as the inner eye) is also a mystical and esoteric concept referring to a speculative invisible eye which provides perception beyond ordinary sight. In certain dharmic spiritual traditions such as Hinduism, the third eye refers to the gate that leads to inner realms and spaces of higher consciousness.

Now, how ancient Egyptians and Hindus had access to such intricate diagrammatic representation of Thalamus that nestles deep inside our brain and created pictorial metaphors for common man understanding remains a mystery.

Adherents of Theosophy H.P. Blavatsky and Rick Strassman, have suggested that the third eye is in fact the partially dormant pineal gland, which resides between the two hemispheres of the brain. Various types of lower vertebrates, such as reptiles and amphibians, can actually sense light via a third parietal eye—a structure associated with the pineal gland—which serves to regulate their circadian rhythms, and for navigation, as it can sense the polarization of light.

C.W. Leadbeater claimed that by extending an “etheric tube” from the third eye, it is possible to develop microscopic and telescopic vision. It has been asserted by Stephen Phillips that the third eye’s microscopic vision is capable of observing objects as small as quarks.

So, getting back to our central thought, we can pretty much infer that the color INDIGO which relates to the third eye is often associated with spiritual visions, clairvoyance, good health, precognition, and out-of-body experiences and everything that deals with higher consciousness.
